@redlion517

Let's hope this means the end of all those tax writeoffs.

What is Shaw Bros. doing there?

@Kingofwei22.

This is similar to how MGM Dropped UA in Home Video name as MGM Home Entertainment back in the day.

@marbardan

They're not really splitting up both the companies but rather the divisions. WB and discovery aren't going anywhere sadly.

I knew that this split was inevitable. So long, David Zaslav.

The "other TV networks" of course being those of the former Turner Broadcasting System besides but including the aforementioned CNN (Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang, Cartoonito, HLN, TBS, TNT and truTV) and also Scripps Networks Interactive which Discovery acquired in 2018 around the same time as Warner Bros., Turner and HBO were being altogether — as part of the then-existing TimeWarner umbrella — acquired by AT&T (Food Network, Cooking Channel, Travel Channel and HGTV); the two mergers finalized 2 months of each other (Discovery/Scripps in March and TimeWarner/AT&T in June). At least Warner Bros. (the Streaming & Studios company) keeps Magnolia Network (the former DIY Network) under HBO, Turner Classic Movies and a shared 25% stake with Paramount Global (actually 12.5% split between both companies if you divide by 2) in the now Nexstar-75% owned (as of 2022) CW broadcast television network under Warner Bros. Television upon completion of split, all the while Paramount's merger with longtime partner Skydance Media is dying to be approved. P.S. If you and I already know, The CW was formed in 2006 from the merger of CBS' UPN and Warner Bros.' The WB Television Network (the latter a joint venture to Tribune Broadcasting, said company now a predecessor to Nexstar Media Group), and takes their name from the very first letters in their two founding partners' (and now minority co-owners) respective names. The launch also happened a mere 8 months after the great CBS/Viacom split of January 3, 2006 under cinema operating company National Amusements owned by Robert Redford.
