Grass starters lines are all among my favorite, but Turtwig's is one of my best ever.

Definitely turtwig, at least turtwig gets a secondary typing once it becomes torterra unlike Grookey who remains a pure grass type through its whole evolution line lol

Ok. Let's look at this from a competitive point with their final forms. Torterra is a Grass/Ground Type that's made as a bulky physical attacker. This, as well as almost everything, has pros and cons. First off, defensively, it has a 4x weakness to Ice now, along with a neutral match up to Water. Offensively, it has STAB Earthquake and High Horsepower, which are considered the best attacks in the game Offensively. Type wise, it can also hit the Fire and Steel Types that gave it trouble with Grass Moves. With Rillaboom, it's a pure Grass Type, so it doesn't have the benefits of another Type like Ground, but it also doesn't get the detrimental weaknesses as well. Rillaboom also has the powerful combination of Grassy Surge and Grassy Glide. The reason why this is so powerful is because Grassy Glide gets +1 Priority on Grassy Terrain, and Grassy Surge sets up said Terrain. If you give Rillaboom a Choice Band, you're pretty much all set. So from the analysis, Rillaboom is stronger competitively. But if we're just going off of opinionated favorites, I gotta go Grookey.
