I work at a facility that houses non-releasable birds, we had an outbreak of bird flu and lost 16 birds (entirely waterfowl in one of our ponds) in a 3 week period. The entire time, I was so afraid of bringing it home to my cars, clothing changes before leaving work, and full showers daily when I got home. Scary times.

One of the biggest reasons I keep my three mini panthers indoors. Disease and fleas! 😏

Please keep it up online Jackson Galaxy. We will watch it later on. We might have some questions about it too.

Hope we get a vaccine out of this. I got a FIV+ here and even more in the north than the south, I'm sure my Bengal will be sad about the walk on leash good times if this spreads. :(

Wait?! What? Oh no! My cats love to be outside. But I have to keep them safe

Protect them from all bird poop. Don’t let them be outdoor roamers. That’s honestly all we can do.

Just have them wear a little cat masks. They'll never get sick lol

I give my cats wet food as a treat. I stopped buying any that contains poultry back in December. They are strictly indoors so that is one less worry I have.

Can you look into a plant that grows here in Florida called Yellow Bell? Cats love it’s bark for some reason and I can’t find any documentation on this anywhere. I doubt it’s toxic to them, but it’s really interesting finding something almost like catnip.

Thank you for keeping us informed, especially on the concern about raw diets.

It's funny how bird flu doesn't affect any other bird species other than livestock, and now bird flu is affecting cats! Please reread this post again. It just seems to me there's something not right here. Yes, you should all that precautions, but my kitty wasn't on a raw diet. He was eating wet food and dry food, and my boy got blocked by the dry food. We have to make the cat/dog food company liable. They must test all food sources before bagging foods.

I feel so worried because India has had a bunch of cases in another state, and I take care of my colony stray cats. I cannot even bring my head around a solution to keep them away from birds.. we have crows, pigeons and kites in our area.. sadly I feed the crows too and I am not sure if they are at risk too .just beginning to read up on all of this. If you have some suggestions for colony strays, please do share 🙏

With everything I’m learning about the spread of bird flu in cats (in large part thanks to my friend, Dr. Julie Levy DVM from The University of Florida and Operation Catnip), I’m glad I’ve got a catio for Mowgli as well as Penelope and Theo.
There is so much more to know, and that’s why I’m posting a new, time-sensitive video tomorrow. It’s an interview with Dr. Levy that will cover everything from the history of this bug, how it got to cats, symptoms and how to prevent the spread. Look for me LIVE at 10:15AM PST before the video premieres at 11! Knowledge is key to preventing the spread!
