One of the biggest reasons I keep my three mini panthers indoors. Disease and fleas! 😏

Last week, my cat became very sick. Bird flu was the only thing that matched his symptoms but my state hadn’t had known cases in cats according to the vet. Despite being completely healthy and going to the vet right away, he passed away in a matter of hours. I’m devastated. We decided to have a necropsy, if it was bird flu we wanted to try to help others. The results won’t be in for a few weeks. This was something I never heard of. It’s great that you are sharing this!!

I work at a facility that houses non-releasable birds, we had an outbreak of bird flu and lost 16 birds (entirely waterfowl in one of our ponds) in a 3 week period. The entire time, I was so afraid of bringing it home to my cars, clothing changes before leaving work, and full showers daily when I got home. Scary times.

Thank you Jackson for keeping us all informed. My family has taken in homeless cats for years.. and we've adored every one. I lost my precious PJ 2 years ago and I am still grieving. I had her for almost 23 years. She was my child. But I do have a new guy on my life.. I lovingly call him the master of destruction (really named Carter). He was about to be abandoned in an apartment, but the Lord was with us and knowledge of his plight came my way... I still miss my Pj , but this guy has put a smile on my face. Carter and I watch your videos together, but I think I get more out of it than he does... Anyway, thanks again for all you do.

Can you look into a plant that grows here in Florida called Yellow Bell? Cats love it’s bark for some reason and I can’t find any documentation on this anywhere. I doubt it’s toxic to them, but it’s really interesting finding something almost like catnip.

My son and daughter in laws outdoor cat got severely sick it infected his eyes and he just had to have both eyes taken to survive. This was a month ago. Their little guy is a fighter and he’s now an indoor cat that has mastered his surroundings. He still tries to go outside but he hits things so we are building a cardio for them this weekend. This stuff is no joke

It's funny how bird flu doesn't affect any other bird species other than livestock, and now bird flu is affecting cats! Please reread this post again. It just seems to me there's something not right here. Yes, you should all that precautions, but my kitty wasn't on a raw diet. He was eating wet food and dry food, and my boy got blocked by the dry food. We have to make the cat/dog food company liable. They must test all food sources before bagging foods.

Hope we get a vaccine out of this. I got a FIV+ here and even more in the north than the south, I'm sure my Bengal will be sad about the walk on leash good times if this spreads. :(

With everything I’m learning about the spread of bird flu in cats (in large part thanks to my friend, Dr. Julie Levy DVM from The University of Florida and Operation Catnip), I’m glad I’ve got a catio for Mowgli as well as Penelope and Theo.
There is so much more to know, and that’s why I’m posting a new, time-sensitive video tomorrow. It’s an interview with Dr. Levy that will cover everything from the history of this bug, how it got to cats, symptoms and how to prevent the spread. Look for me LIVE at 10:15AM PST before the video premieres at 11! Knowledge is key to preventing the spread!
