One of the most powerful claims of the New Testament is that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. Yet many Christians struggle to see how the Torah—the first five books of Moses—actually points to Jesus as the Messiah. While much Christian apologetics focuses on messianic prophecies in Isaiah or the Psalms, this class takes a different approach by turning our attention to the foundational books of the Hebrew Scriptures.
Across five sessions, students will uncover the patterns, promises, and types embedded in the Torah that find their ultimate fulfillment in Christ. From the seed of the woman in Genesis, to the Passover lamb in Exodus, to the bronze serpent in Numbers, students will learn how the Torah lays the groundwork for the Gospel. This course will equip students to see the continuity of God’s plan from the earliest chapters of Scripture and to present compelling evidence from the Torah that Jesus is, indeed, the long-awaited Messiah.
Module I – Genesis: The End in the Beginning
Module II – Exodus: God’s Dwelling in the World
Module III – Leviticus: The Liturgical Messiah
Module IV – Numbers: Journey to the End of Days
