God does not lead us into battles to lose. He has already prepared the victory for us, but we can't win a battle we don't show up for. In the Old Testament, we see times where the Israelites simply showed up and God defeated their enemies in front of them. Other times, He gave them a strategy to follow and won the victory through their obedience to follow Him into battle.
