Genya Dev

New Unity pricing change will go into effect in January 2024, where devs will need to pay 0.20 dollars everytime their game is installed after they meet a certain threshold, which is 200k installs and $200k in total revenue. This not only applies to future unity games, but also games made/published before 2024, although it will only count installs/revenue made AFTER January 2024 (which still sucks btw)

I may not use Unity but this is a really stupid and predatory change, which is why I'm spreading awareness of it (even if only 7 people will see this). Plus its very exploitable, since it counts every single install, even multiple ones on a single device. This could bankrupt indie devs.

So yeah uhh.. better pray they go back and reverse the change !!!!

Reddit tried doing something extremely similar to this a few months ago. Everyone hated it. Hopefully Unity listens to their community instead of making the same mistake as Reddit.
