The Solo Summiteer

Hey folks, just wanted to say hi and give you a bit of an update.

March has been a really busy month for me and I can’t believe I’ve already completed six wild camps so far, covering England, Scotland and Wales. I’ve done 3 wild camps in the Lake District; on Blencathra, and the two night trip in my recent videos. I’ve done two wild camps in the Arrochar region of Scotland, one on a Munro and one near Ben Arthur. I’ve also just got back from a wild camp last night in Snowdonia. Busy busy busy 😁.

I also wanted to say a massive thank you for all your great comments on my recent videos. Unfortunately my last video (Part 2 of the Ennerdale Horseshoe trip) has not been so well received and a got a message from YouTube say that “regular viewers are choosing not to watch this video” and, that views are 30% down. When it comes to channel statistics, YouTube knows absolutely everything.

Just when you think your channel is gaining a bit of momentum, down it goes again. Doing YouTube takes a lot of time and effort and I think only those who have tried it can really appreciate this. When you put all your efforts and passion into something you naturally want have a standard for yourself that you strive to maintain and hopefully improve on, over time. It’s only human to compare yourself with others in the same field and sometimes you just feel like, despite your best efforts, you simply can’t keep up, while everyone else is improving. Anyone who thinks YouTube is “easy” and lucrative is sadly mistaken.

Anyway, I’ve got a few videos to edit but I’m gonna be giving myself a bit of a break for a few days. I’m sure you understand.

In other news my car has been back on the road since the beginning of March. It’s running great again and I’ve already done over 1300 miles in it since the (expensive 😬) repairs to replace my injectors.

I’ve been struggling to keep up with replying to all your great comments so I apologise for that. I certainly read every one of them and appreciate the time and effort you take to respond. It was also great to meet and chat with a few of you guys when I was in Keswick at the beginning of the month. Once again a massive thank you for your continued support. It really does mean a lot.

Take care my friends - Dave 🙏🏻

@xabre9995

Dave.”, I don’t watch you on my phone, or my laptop. I watch you on my TV in my lounge with my dinner on my lap, the cats behind me and my better half beside me. Weird huh? Little old you on the telly! As I mentioned, your last trip has inspired me to do the same in the middle of May. You inspire people and give them an escape with the beauty you portray in your videos (steady, I’m talking about the landscape!). Chin up, don’t feel despondent mate 👍

Dave, the very essence of why we like you isn't all the over complicated fancy stuff that the algorithm wants.....it's just you in the mountains enjoying yourself and documenting it. I loved the Emmerdale loop and things like that. Ace idea 😁 Whatevers best though mate 😊 Take care, Ad

Hi Dave. I’ve been a regular since pretty much day one. I may not comment all the time but I never miss a video. Never change to suit the new narrative. You’re you and being yourself. Thanks for the time and effort you put in. You don’t realise how inspiring you are to people.

Your videos are some of the finest in the genre. The perspective the drone footage is superlative. Don't burn yourself out trying to put too many videos. The amount of time producing them will take away the Time to get out and do what you love. Enjoy making the videos by all means, Don't go chasing views. The community you have created has helped myself massively. Look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

The Ennerdale loop is way up there with the best you’ve done. It’s the essence of why we do this stuff. Stuff the algorithm, keep doing what you’re doing. 💪

Dave , ignore youtube response, your channel is fantastic, the only one I never miss, and I'm sure I speak for many that we appreciate the effort you put in to making these films. But you should do it in your own time , and on ur own terms
