I understand why they have done it, but after playing Minecraft for 11 years with that version numbering system I sure am gonna miss it.

As a veteran, saying "one-point-" before whatever comes next is basically a piece of culture at this point lmao

Its not like minecraft has had 26 major versions its just minecraft 1 not minecraft 2, thats why i think the 1.xx names make sense

I don't mind the version numbering change but I think the new snapshots will get very confusing because it is literally the same thing as the new version numbering but with "snapshot" at the end. I see no problem keeping the old snapshot numbering system.

@AlphaLibre9

1.year would be fine once they reach that year and then they can continue like normal. 1.28.1-10 for example.

@kriszdoesstuff9240

though the 1. was redundant, it felt right somehow, can't explain it

@Spacehero5000

It should be the new system but with 1. in front of it. So for example 1.26.1 would be the first drop of 2026

@Rascal1-7654

Just keep the 1.- in front of the 26

@JacobEdusei

It makes sense and will be easier, but it's a change, so there will be friction

1.XX.X felt easier to understand. You can tell 1.12 and 1.20 will have a good chunk of differences. The new system feels like it hides progress made.

@Ybloc23

The new one would have been better if they changed it sooner, I think now is too late.

@vaguedestruction

For the drops system, this is way better and actually makes sense. I preferred the major update system tho

@rollo_linwood

Should be 1.26.1 that's my take

@ElixirQuiver

I liked pre-drop numbers. But this is better then post-drop

@alexchimi7093

Obviously I’ll miss the old one but this system just makes so much more sense

@KitYTGaming

I kinda hate it bc we will not reach version 1.69

@KBRoller

I mean, I'd prefer semver (with the understanding that there are no plans for a sequel, so the major version should be 21, 22, etc. at this point). But if they're not going to do semver, then whether they do sequential versions or annual versions is irrelevant to me.

@MCChubbyUnicorn

I really don't like all of the content drops. As soon as i get all my mods updated, a new drop is out. It will make it difficult for server owners as well, because I bet each drop will break servers. At least with larger updates, it is one fix a year to do

@seth303mb

Should be 1.26.1
