I bought $250 of intuitive surgical (ISRG) at the IPO in 2000. At the time I was a sophomore in high school. I held on to it for a number of years until I bought my first house. At that point I sold it for about $6,000 and used the proceeds to furnish my house. If I had held on to it until today, it would be worth about $68,000.

Bought LVS in 2009 for about $2 or something close to that. about $500 worth. Sold in 2012 at like $50 share made pretty good profit. That made me get into stocks seeing how much I made.

Bought Boeing stock for $270 a share and it tanked down to $95 and never recovered back to 270. Then bought several airlines and cruise stocks that never made me any money. It wasnt until I bought SMCI that I made money on individual stock investing.

My first stock was 3k into tmc at $4.15. I got scared and sold the lot, a week later it doubled to $8.00. I still feel sick about it. Now I'm waiting to invest in something else.

I bought Fortress Investment Group for my first buy. I held until they went private and they bought out my shares. I made some $ especially when counting dividends. It was about a 40% return over 2 years. Considering the company that bought FIG sold a 60% stake in it just a few years later for more than they bought it, it seems like I made a great choice and it would have paid off pretty well. I don’t even want to remember the others I bought. A freighter shipping company that went bankrupt. A Canadian cannabis pharma company that delisted and bought back the shares at a 90% loss. I kind of invest very boringly now in VOO, SCHD, and QQQ and then diversify into no brainers like Berkshire Hathaway, Amazon, Google, etc when they’re down.

10k in silver during the 2008 crash. Turned into 20k in a matter of months. I’m not rich. I got hit by a car, got a small check, put that money in the market as a 20 year old, used the profits to remodel a home I turned into a rent house. That investment and the rent house put me and my wife through school.

GE. 2009 (post great recession). 52 week high was $56. It was trading at $6. I sold at $10. Stupid sell by me. But I was hooked on investing ever since and stopped day trading after about 10 more bad sells, 😂

Microsoft back in 2008 was $20 a share. I was a poor college student so I only bought 4 shares. It has grown so much I wish I would have decided to buy more but it was what got me started in investing. It now worth $498 a share that’s over 1000% growth!

On Jan 2, 2021 I used my stimulus check to buy 1 share of $TSLA @ $880. I had to keep putting more money in my account because the price kept rising. Then, after the trade executed, $TSLA proceeded to drop $300 trapping me. I held for several months and finally sold around $560 for a loss. I was so discouraged. A began making regular small weekly contributions adding to my capital. It took a long time to learn how to find quality stocks. Dividend paying stocks weren't paying enough and were losing stock value. The big companies like AT&T, GE, and IBM were struggling. 4 yrs later, and I'm pulling 3-5% most weeks, and finding my own undiscovered gems, as well as, hedging with Gold and shorting with options. Move over Cathie Woods, Jim Simons, and Roaring Kitty, because I'm coming!!
