I want to say "undo" because I feel like it'd force me to become more intentional and efficient, but then I'll accidentally hit delete on an entire layer and it's gone forever. Eraser it is.

Eraser, because it can be replaced by each of the other tools: 1. Undo can get rid of most immediate mistakes 2. Lasso can cut out/off any unwanted parts 3. Multiple layers can be used for more risky moves, which are easy to delete after I’d still miss it, but it’s absence wouldn’t limit me (no multiple layers), wouldn’t frustrate me too much (no lasso tool), and wouldn’t break me (no undo).

eraser for sure... you can just make your brush transparent and itll fit all your other strokes

The eraser has always been the original undo button Edit: People saying eraser can be replaced make me sad. It's not as simple as "go over it with white" or use the lasso tool. The eraser provides more precision than the lasso. And while you can paint over mistakes using the colors you use, it adds pixels to the canvas, not remove them. It may not be a big deal to add pixels to some, but for others it may create issues with doing other things like color fill or transforming a layer. Maybe I just appreciate a good eraser as someone who enjoys traditional mediums as much as digital

Maybe this is a sign that I need to learn how to use the lasso tool haha

When I was a beginner to digital art I would have said lasso tool, but now I literally cannot live without it 🙏 all those hard edges are so perfect for ski

A lack of lasso although annoying is at least something I could deal with, it'd just make the process slightly more tedious/lengthy

Eraser: I can replace it with white or lasso tool (or any brush can be inverted to an eraser)

Having drawn for many years on Snapchat (which has undo but no eraser, layers, or lasso), I think I missed out the most on layers. Depending on the composition you can use a background color as an eraser, but obviously it’s not ideal. Undo is so convenient but it’s also just a skill issue (/j) and a crutch (I definitely spam undo too much sometimes). Lasso is a close runner up since it theoretically works as an eraser tool (select what you want and move it off the page) but still, nothing beats layers to me. Makes the whole process so much easier and more enjoyable

In theory the lasso tool but in practice tbh I have a habit of just doing everything on one layer

Layers and lasso are incredibly versatile and powerful tools - no way. No undo button would be annoying, but livable 95% of the time, but boy do you need it in those 5%. Don't know about you, but I don't feel like turning my favourite pasttime into an anxiety generator. I barely use the eraser tool past the sketch phase anyways, and on top of that there's like 30 different ways to replace it. My choice is obvious.

I sometimes hover my hand over the eraser instead of the undo cause eraser can undo mistakes too and sometimes it’s nicer to do touch ups than to redo a whole line so I’m chill if I lose undo

Lasso can be beneficial when making shapes. The most I can live without is Multiple Layers since you can lightly erase your sketch instead. And it makes you commit to every brush strokes you do.

Multiple layers can be great for adding layers of screen tones and blending modes, which can't be easily achieved by other means. Lasso tool helps in selecting specific areas of your work to edit or transform. To me, It's function is too specific to be replaced by any other tool. The Undo button isn't just for undoing accidental strokes or edit selections— what would you do if you lost a whole layer of work because you hit the Delete by accident, or because the app started to bug out? The Undo button saves lives! So far the least useful tool in these options is the Eraser tool. You can simply paint over mistakes using the appropriate colors, and even without that, the undo button can sometimes stand in for erasing errors.
