KDE art always looks so pretty! Even the CGI render of Konqi in some older KDE versions looked really cool as well!

I'm very glad that I'm fortunate enough to be able to regularly support KDE financially (in my case, quarterly). They're doing great work on the Linux desktop.

Just a reminder to everyone. A bunch of smaller donations over the course of a year is significantly better than one big donation at the end of the year. Having predictable recurring income makes financial planning significantly easier than trying to stretch the holiday season donations out for 12 months. If all you can remember to do is to donate during the big fundraiser then every bit you can offer helps, but if you are able to remember to donate monthly that’s the better option.

Kubuntu is great and I think it should get recommended way more often when telling people what to switch to from Windows. The familiar feel and similar look makes it remove friction that people who are already into Linux don’t think about. I know it’s just a similar looking desktop screen and taskbar but it has a big effect!

Also, they are the people maintaining Krita I believe so I hope my artist friends keep supporting the free and open source software they use for making their dough

It was time for me to donate too, I want their work to continue and ideally increase for Linux to become better and more friendly for new users

Actually donated to them, zorin (don't use it myself but I really, really want them to succeed with how much they're genuinely trying to gently bridge people into adoption of Linux), the distro I somehow find myself coming back to (Garuda, idk, I like most of their choices for defaults and it's been the least likely to break of any arch distro outside of a raw arch install via blood sweat and tears) and a couple other projects that need support and then immediately come here and see this post! I cannot justify not doing so when I depend on their product and actively save money & have a better system because of their work. Also konqi is just adorable and I can't say no to him or Katie Thanks for putting the word out, anyone who has the means and uses these projects should be giving some back if they can. The nature of foss obviously means I can't expect everyone to but, it's morally the only choice I can justify and probably one of the few times I'm happy to cough up some cash rather than pissed (like I would be buying another windows license after changing the mobo causing winblows to see a different hardware ID and go 'time to pay up')

They got €50. No regrets, been donating and using it for many years now. Where else would it go? Microsoft? Ha!😂

I enjoy using Plasma and Krita regularly, so I'll make sure to donate again this year! I did last year and got some cool icons for it, curious what they'll look like this year

By bank recently wanted me to confirm that I still want to make the yearly donation which I added last year. Which I do, so it went through and has made it to KDE's account. I've also been getting a lot of use from FreeCAD these past two months, so my donation to that project is more than justified. Krita sees less use at the moment, but I like it for taking notes with a digital brush which does not feel shit to use. Might try to get in to digital drawing more when I pick up a Framework 12, if the tracking is good enough.

KDE has just started up this years fundraiser, if you support the desktop powering SteamOS, Bazzite and providing users with the better desktop experience on Linux, share it around and support the project if you can kde.org/fundraisers/yearend2025/
