Fantastical Follies Costuming
New project announcement!! This fall, we're going to be delving into the Natural Form era! So exciting! Specifically inspired by this 1881 black-and-white ensemble from the Met's collection of fashion plates. Have you ever costumed this era before?
It reminds me of Eliza Doolittle's outfit from the races scene in My Fair Lady, so I've decided to dub this the "Age-Appropriate Eliza Doolittle" dress, since this is what she'd wear to the races if she was age-appropriate to Henry Higgins 🤣🙄
This whole project is based on the hat I was gifted (fourth photo) which has the most delightful Ranier cherries on it. It was a struggle to find the perfect era-appropriate fabric to match, so black and white seemed like the perfect solution! Fourth photo is this wonderful striped linen I found for a good price, which means it'll be comfy enough to wear in Galveston this December for Dickens on the Strand!
