I’m exploring the possibility of organizing a group buy to support the initial design and production of a billet oil pump for the Nissan VG30DE platform. Platinum Racing Products has established an excellent reputation for developing high-quality components for the RB engine lineup, and I believe there could be strong interest within the VG community for a similar offering. The later-model (gerotor-style) oil pumps have become increasingly difficult to source, with many now discontinued, while the earlier designs that remain available are becoming quite costly. This presents a valuable opportunity for an upgraded, performance-oriented billet solution.
A billet oil pump would give us aftermarket options and an improved gear design to maintain steady flow and pressure in higher RPMs. Many people have reported that the factory pump becomes inefficient above 7,500 RPM depending on condition, and pressures could drop below 40 psi which could be detrimental to an engine spinning that fast.
I may not personally be able to make this happen but I feel like if there is enough interest that we as a community could generate, we could make this happen one way or another.
On another note I do have a 3D scanner and am no stranger to CAD. Where there's a will, there's a way 😎
