I agree with your sentiments in the video, this is likely the end. One thing I like to think might happen though is a rediscovery in the distant future by several select individuals. Similar to how several individuals in a generation might keep certain lost arts alive. It may be a long shot but with the rich history of Goldeneye speed running maybe there is an opportunity for such a lifeline. We’ve seen great players come in relatively late, such as Calle, so maybe there are a few lives left for this game.

There's a lot at play I think. As the records get closer and closer to TAS level, I can see the incentive to spend so many hours attempting that diminishing. Also, runners who view the N64 as nostalgia are in my demographic and we're not young anymore. Responsibilities increase while interest and capability declines at least for N64 games. In summation, yes, I think we are in the twilight of those records. However, we should celebrate with a party on that day, rejoice, and reminisce. I could be completely wrong though. I saw a 10 year old kid in the X-Games do back to back Kickflip 900's. I don't think I could do that in Tony Hawks Pro Skater with a full meter and no cheats. Speed running itself isn't going away, it's just maturing. But all it would take is one motivated kid who got hooked on his mom/dad's N64 to say, "Hold my juice box. You don't know the latest tech? Now we also play games with our feet on the controller so we essentially have 4 hands".

Unless a new trick is discovered, I think goldeneye (N64) speedruns might be maxed out by 2030 I guess it’s time to try out the Xbox/nintendo switch versions However maybe their might be some new tricks discovered on newer versions due to frame rate or something and might lead to other/similar discoveries for the N64, kind of like barrier skip on legend of Zelda wind waker HD

Ever? Yeah. Think about the Dam bursting. Some micro optimization or wild tech will be found and it will be matched

How much RNG does this record require to be beaten? How many hundreds of hours grinding? Maybe, in this case, it won't keep happening.

Will Ace's Facility Agent 0:42 ever get tied or beaten? https://youtu.be/5iCiKo6qAck
Or have we reached the "late stage" of speedrunning, where little development remains, there are few new speedrunners to on-board, and many of the records may last for the rest of time?
