'Maul was an animal. A skilled animal, but a beast nonetheless.' -Dooku's Inner Monologue in the Revenge of the Sith Novelization

Dooku was a great character. Sir Christopher Lee is the only SW actor who was an actual, literal swordsman — and he didn’t work with aluminum sticks, either. He used actual swords, saying the danger informed his character. Total legend.

Dooku stomps. Maul took a long time to fully dispatch Qui Qon and then had his saber smashed in half Obi-Wan (who was a padawan at that time). Say what you will about Obi-Wan getting lucky in the end, he was holding his own against Maul before that. Dooku easily dispatched an Obi-Wan who was 10 years older and more experienced.

Dooku would be defensive and keep Maul at bay until he got sloppy then finish him with the effeciency of a lifetime dueling expert.

Dooku doesn’t utilize the dark side while dueling a lot of the time. The thirst for vengeance and sheer hatred for the man that killed his apprentice would turn Dooku into an unstoppable killing machine.

I think Dooku’s just too good of a lightsaber duelist for Maul.

Considering what we know, this is a closer fight than I I initially thought. Dookus death was caused by a very powerful, rash, dark side fueled anakin skywalker. That’s like, Mauls whole thing, just pure anger, fighting like an animal of force. If Maul were simply more powerful, I could see him taking this, but Dooku is aware of Mauls rashness, and is a more skilled fighter and would end up certainly winning.

I like Maul as a character better, but realistically, it's obvious Dooku would win at the end of the day. Dooku has a much greater variety of force abilities in his arsenal, and his saber skills could only be matched by the absolute best of his era, which Maul really isn't. At best, Maul could beat some lower tier jedi council members while Dooku could contend with the best jedi of his time like Yoda and ROTS Anakin and Obi-wan. The only advantage Maul has over Dooku is his physicality since Zabraks are a much tougher species than humans, but that advantage is extremely minor since every opponent Dooku faced with the debatable expection of Yoda was in better physical shape than he is yet 9 out of 10 times he either wins or the match ends in a draw. Cleary Dooku is the winner here. 🧛♂️⚡

Maul can’t even get past Obi-Wan, and Kenobi routinely got his ass whooped by Dooku.

Dooku struggled with opponents that were aggressive, physically strong and had more endurance. This is shown with him losing to both Quianlain vos and Anakin. Maul exemplifies endurance, aggression and physical strength.

For context Dooku held his own against prime Anakin & Obi Wan and even a growing Anakin, Obi Wan & Yoda prior. Maul lost to a Padwon Obi Wan while in an area he should have had a huge advantage in being close quarters. No disrespect to Maul but from what we experience it’s not close.

Darth Maul gave Obi-Wan emotional scars by killing Qui-Gon Jinn and Satine. Count Dooku gave Obi-Wan physical scars in Attack of the Clones.

Haven't seen much of Starwars besides the movies, but I'm pretty sure Dooku easily wins this. People seem to underrated his power.
