I just came back from visiting Greece (especially Crete and Santorini), and it was so interesting seeing how deeply the volcanic eruption permeated the culture. For example, Santorini apparently had red lilies before the eruption, and now they only have white lilies, but we have evidence from paintings in Akrotiri that the lilies used to come in red as well.
