For me, it started with just gettin' high yoooo, then that followed into a scientific curiosity which then built into a vehicle for healing trauma and has now finalised as a tool for spiritual exploration.

It doesn’t matter why you do it you’re gonna get what you need either way

I’ve only ever done them about 4 times in the last 5 or so years, and it’s always because I’m aiming for either ego death or at least mental clarity. I always feel so grounded for weeks or months after a trip. Haven’t taken one in over a year now though, and I don’t plan on it any time soon

For me, it's both spiritual/personal growth, and healing trauma, but I voted personal growth since I think that encapsulates both :)

All of the top 3 for me, to be honest. Personal growth is a big component of it, for sure, but I'm also highly curious and want to move past traumatic experiences that have been holding me back and keeping me from utilizing my own potential. I just don't know how to do that on my own

As a teen I saw them as "cool colors maaaaan" but after being adult and deciding to part take I learned that I had a lot of personal stuff to work through. I did intend to go a trip for spiritual engagement as I had always found religion as a joke. I still hold hard feelings on religion. Especially Christianity And while I do also believe that some of that "magic mushroom wisdom" is kinda just you being high, it's hard to not be in that place and not see the magic flow through you and your past I'm probably not going to take anything for a long long time. But I'm glad I got the experiences I have had

Discovered Carl Jungs works, and decided a direct confrontation with the subconscious was the best way to try and begin the great work of individuation. I've never been patient or imaginative enough for active imagination, and psychedelics bring me to a place where I can begin to do real work. And once the doors of Narnia opened, sheer curiosity keeps me coming back.

Honestly I’m scared of them now. When I was younger and my ego wasn’t so stubborn I had no problem with them. Now I just get so much fear and anxiety I don’t know how I’ll ever be able to take them again. Which is a shame cause I could use their help at this point in my life.

It started with just wanting to get high, then i had my first psychosis and it broke my addiction to pills, then i had my first encounter with god and entities. Now i do them for introspection, spiritual encounters, and bc im genuinely curious as to how deep i can go

If I could pick two it would be both spiritual/personal growth, and healing trauma. A light dose of mushrooms with the right intent has done more for me in one night than 6 years of therapy ever has done.

All 4 reasons fam. I'm pursuing a pharmD/masters of pharmaceutics to do research work! Plus discovering what my life MEANS

All of them(minus the last obviously). When I started it was most definitely to “get high” but it was apparent real quick how powerful these substances are. One thing I will never do is judge someone for eating some mushrooms simply to have fun, though. Psychedelics are pretty safe compared to alcohol and other more dangerous substances, I think using them for your recreational activity is a wise choice. And let’s face it, many will get the benefits of them even if that wasn’t their intention.

Mostly exploration of the Mind-body Dualism assertion as well as research into possible universal commonalities in psychedelic experiences

I started for the "scientific" aspect but quickly learned that it was medicine. Now I do it for spiritually & healing mental health. I actually hate getting high.

Sometimes it’s for introspection, other times it’s to watch a marvel movie in ultra high definition with 100080p eyeballs lol

Honestly the top 3 answers for me, though healing trauma would be the biggest of the 3. Never would've considered taking "drugs" could be psychologically healing, God I need me some of that.

For me its maintaining mental health. Especially emotions. Not trauma necessarily. But also to enjoy fantasy audiobooks in nature. And sometimes you dont know which one it will be.
