In late October of 1512 Afonso de Albuquerque arrived with a relief force and quickly deployed his reserves into the city while his navy bombarded enemy positions and cut off the Island of Tiwadi on which Goa was located. Still outnumbered - the Portuguese with their Indian Mercenaries counter attacked. What ensued was a harrowing battle that left many dead on both sides.
