I believe his staff needed to be repaired to destroy the cannon, that's why I think Rosie smiled at the end of their part of the song, because Alastor was asking for his staff to be fixed in order to help. That's my headcanon until it's revealed.

Did Alastor really decieve Vox for Charlie or himself, or maybe a combination of both? regardless, it actually helped Charlie out and resulted in character development of more character and a bigger fall for Vox, though she still could've won without the Radio Demon, given that Baxter and Nifty were only delayed and defeated Velvet and Charlie was never willingly going to admit that Vox was most powerful, she would've held out long enough and Baxter would still have gotten the recording out, not to mention disabled Vox again and disarm his mind control
