The U.S. has imposed a 39% tariff on Swiss imports (incl. watches), in force since Aug 7, 2025. Early signals point to price increases in the U.S., inventory reshuffling, and buyers reconsidering where and what to purchase.
Switzerland is seeking a negotiated fix, but for now the market is adjusting in real time. We want to hear how you plan to navigate this shift so we can report the real collector view on WatchAdvisor.

Analysts and trade press expect double-digit U.S. price moves (≈12–22%), some brands have already tweaked U.S. pricing and pulled forward shipments ahead of the deadline—signs this will touch both entry and high-end segments. Your votes will help us track the impact across the community.

!!!!! This is NOT a political discussion—please keep comments focused on collector impact and buying behavior. !!!!!

Where would you source your next piece under the new tariff reality?

@WatchAdvisor

Why we’re asking: We’re running four short polls to understand how the new U.S. tariff on Swiss watches affects collectors—prices, sourcing, brand choices, and strategies. This is NOT a political discussion—please keep comments focused on watches and the market.

They are already massively overpriced for a mostly machine made product, including Rolex. They can reduce the price and still make an incredible profit

You said it’s not a political discussion, but politics are a factor in buying/collecting behavior for many. I will not buy under these tariffs because… 1) This is an additional tax on consumers. 2) It will not solve the trade imbalance it claims to rectify, nor will it bring jobs to the US. 3) It is punitive to countries and industries for absolutely no reason other than a transparent bully tactic. 4) I refuse to fund this autocratic Admin’s agenda, and despise every value that this wannabe dictator stands for. Yes, my political leaning is a factor in my decision to stop buying watches with any imposed tariffs.

If you purchase abroad while traveling you are still required to pay duties and customs (tariffs) upon entering the USA. And you will then pay on the full retail price not the wholesale cost the manufacturer would charge importing the watch. US Customs has access to financial records such as wire transfer and credit card transactions. Failure to declare can result in forfeiture of the watch, fines, penalties and revocation of TSA Pre and Global Entry privileges. Proceed as you deem appropriate.

Great survey question.

You’ve got bigger problems than how to buy luxury watches if you live in America. Focus on those, then maybe buy some watches after the midterms if it suits you.
