I think this is a great idea. They need to overhaul Medicine education in Canada altogether. Our docs from South Africa think the pre-med program is rediculous. We could crank out practitioners faster if we got rid of that.

All I know is that Canada's medical "system" is a Gordian Knot of issues that have brought us to our current state. Educational throughput, accreditation and licensing issues, egos, political agendas within government and within professional associations, unions, salary and wage protectionism, professional "elitism", funding, ridiculous levels of administration, inefficient and non transparent use of funding, insufficient funding, mis-prioritized funding, harmful policies like not allowing unvaccinated medical personnel work in locations where they are the only care provider or charging sales tax on medical equipment bought with donations, lack of imaginative and innovative solutions, hyper centralization of power, ideological agendas, etc. I could go on for quite a while and I believe the system will have to completely collapse before we can hopefully rebuild it somewhat better.

The 3-year Canadian family medicine training program has officially been halted 🎉

I made a video on this a few months ago, expressing my concerns that an additional year of training likely wouldn't help to address many of the concerns voiced by doctors and patients. In a recent vote by the CFPC, the decision to proceed with 3 year family medicine program has been halted at this time. I think this is great news, but how do you feel about this?
