I saw that the Boys' Farewell won the #1 best scene last night in the Key Election 2025, so I decided it would probably be best to post this old translation (albeit brushed up where I could) of a blog post Midorikawa-san made in 2013 about Kyousuke during the airing of the Little Busters! Refrain anime.

(2013-12-15)
Title: Natsume Kyousuke
I thought I should talk about this a bit later, but I think the timing is about right.
With that, I'll try not to spoil too much (strained laugh)
🌟To say this character is a culmination of Midorikawa Hikaru's work wouldn't be an exaggeration.
He is a truly charming man who holds many faces. I've made full use of many of the characters I've acted as up to now for this role, it's quite fun♪
🌟During the recording for the game, I was saying my lines on my own so I didn't have a full idea of the flow, and my tears wouldn't stop when I saw the scene in the game. I thought I was able to do it in one take with everything I had but there was noise, so I had to do another take. That was a regret I had for many years.
🌟With an anime adaptation, I was felt the delight that more people would know about this work, but at the same time I felt pressure to do that moving scene again. The better the scene was, the more anxious I got about portraying it even slightly differently. That said, if you do the work to trace a moving act as-is, it becomes clear you're doing defensive acting. So, with a 'I'll do the legendary 1 take that I've been regretting for years!'-like offensive determination, I stepped into the studio.
🌟But it was a big task. Most of the people want to witness that deep emotion again. Honestly, I think it's worth congratulating if you can get the same level of acting again. But if I'm doing it, I may as well go above expectations. I've done a lot of cry acting, it wasn't that hard, but it's an iconic scene I cry for real at every time, so I had to be careful not to cry too much. If you cry too much, there's a risk your lines might not be understandable. It's a taboo for cry acting.
🌟I thought from the beginning that I wouldn't be able to meet 100% of people's expectations, but when I looked at the thoughts on the net, I was thankful people were appreciating it. With this, the regret I had for many years has been resolved. JC-san, thank you for carefully making this.
🌟We still have until the final episode. Please make sure to watch it to the end.
Addition (12-21)
🌟On the video we use for practicing, Haruka Kanata was already in it, I was always crying so much... I cried too much, I couldn't practice properly for a while. Really, it's like I'm left a crying mess every time I hear this song (strained laugh).
🌟I had such strong emotions put in, I would cry way too much no matter what. Then, when I recovered, my voice became nasal, it was honestly really lame (laugh). Well, it might be realistic, I don't think I could let you hear that (strained laugh). So, while saving the extent of the crying, I adjusted it so it wouldn't become nasally.
🌟The people who only appeared in the first half, before the second half, with Canna-kun at the helm, followed him out of the studio. It was honestly a huge help. The less the gallery, the more I can concentrate. Really, thank you for looking out for me so casually.

Try comparing the VN and anime versions and you'll hear the differences!

PS. Happy birthday, Natsume Kyousuke. And late happy birthday, Midorikawa Hikaru-san.
