Part of why I love my day job in coffee. On my roasting shifts, I've been roasting coffee grown by the Zapatistas in Chiapas, the indigenous resistance at war with the Mexican government. Their coffee has been fire ✌🏾🔥. They do not accept any financial support from the Mexican government, and coffee is one of their main sources of income. It basically sells itself on account of how delicious it is though.

Speaking of indigenous resistance movements at war with their government, my video on the history of the Maoist Naxalite movement in India is sitting at around 20k words. I've got a round of editing to do, and then I'll be filming it. I've thoroughly enjoyed writing it and reading about it in books and papers. Stay tuned 🤘🏾

Your video on caste is probably the richest/best video about this topic on this platform. I finally understood it, it's such a thorny topic that most people just go with 'it's complicated'. Keep up the good work!

All indian media shows the naxal movement in a negative way without actually explaining why they exist, or what their deal is. They are portrayed just as "people with guns in forest bad" or "they attack police, so they are bad". This video will certainly be interesting

@RohansRoom

Visiting my folks in the motherland rn and there’s been several news reports covering the killings of naxalites (typically in staged encounters but of course they won’t say anything about that) and state media gleefully asserting that they wish to “eliminate” (kill) every naxalite in the country. India being a leader in the global far right movement and these oppressive crackdowns coinciding with the brutality of DHS, ICE, and the IOF only shine a brighter light on the connected nature of these struggles.

I'll be honest. That video has been promised for forever now. At this point it just feels like procrastination. I feel ya though. Have you read The Burning Forest by Nandini Sundar?
