I'm trying to rely less on canned beans. That means I'm making them from scratch, freezing them, and poppin' em out when I need them. It's cheaper, safer (because what chemicals are leaching from them cans, y'all?), and they taste better too 😝
I just posted a guide to making perfect beans at home. Enjoy!! sweetpotatosoul.com/how-to-cook-beans/

This is my sign to go make to making them for scratch. Just as I was taught from my family. Thank you for this reminder. 💕💕

My mum always cooked her own and I learned from her. It's so easy and tastes so much better than canned. I'll see if you might have some extra tips that are new to me.

I love dried beans better than canned , I do not have to read an ingredient list to see if there is extra sodium. You recipes are tasty btw.

I soak mine in cold water for at least 6 hours, then wash and drain. Put beans and water (usually hot to speed up the process) and cook in instant pot. The time depends on the beans. Then put in bags and freeze them. Remove when needed. Super yummy, healthier and cheaper.

Yess I always used dry plus you get more for less . To prevent feeling gassy soak over night or for 6-8 hrs throw that water away then boil for an hour with a little sea moss

Check out Serious Eats’ article on brining beans! I’ve cooked beans for 50 yrs, learned from generations of bean eaters 😂, eat a variety of them 4-5 x week, soaked, not soaked, on the stove, on top of a wood stove, in the oven, with a pressure cooker, with an Instant Pot… but brining was a revelation

LOVE the guide, it’s amazing - thank you so much!!! Will be using this! (PS: I think the “mobile” version of the bean cooking-time chart/table is accidentally a little skewed… maybe it’s just my phone). ALSO OMG, and you can really freeze cooked beans?!! (I mean, seems obvious, but unless someone tells you (or shows you, cool silicone tray, btw) you might not be inclined to automatically do that (me🤦‍♀️)). And all your bean recipes!!! THANK YOU!!!! 🫘🥇🏆 ✨👩

I just said this today!! I had my husband bring our 'extra' freezer upstairs just so I can prep more now to prepare for the cold months.... I mean it's not that cold in GA but I still want to have more fresh made on hand. What are your favorite jars to use? 💜

@WeAreNotGoingBackEver

On three separate occasions I have attempted to make Lima beans in the Ninja Foodie Pressure Cooker only for them to still come out somewhat hard. I soaked them overnight. HELP!!!!!!
