Garmin GPSMAP H1i has GPS accuracy issues, hopefully fixable with firmware. Should I review it now, or wait until Garmin updates it? What would be most helpful?

If I was looking to purchase it and searching for reviews, I would appreciate reviews letting me know it’s bad now, but probably fixable.

I vote review it now and later. Also if you could do a review of the Etrex Touch as well, that would be great to see. Just bought one and would love to get your thoughts.

Never buy anything on future promises. What it is today is what it is. Garmin is slipping up on software on most their device segments

If you should wait for companies to fix all issues you can wait forever. They thought it was ready to sell to customers = ready to review

Yeah, seeing the same. Displayed accuracy is worse than on GPSMAP 67. On my H1 it is between 2m and 3.5m while the GPSMAP 67 shows 1.8m in exact same conditions. Track accuracy seems ok-ish but haven't been able to do extensive testing yet.

I hate to say do both, but I'd like to know real world how bad it is, and then see the actual fixes, and if the fixes actually fix the issues

The sooner you review it the sooner the fix implemented by dear Garmin....the latter reminds me of Kodak back in the days....

I chose both, but the GPSMap series is a vital tool for a lot of people. If it's glitches, people should know about it. Its not like Garmin is new to the GPS game.

Maybe do a review of the device and services that are working well at the moment. Also of course telling about the issues. Follow up later on when Garmin has fixed the issues.

I’m gonna call them tomorrow and let them know, I did 2.5 miles today and didn’t track over the previous track on my way back down the same trail. Bright clear sky all day

Update: there was an update just released. I installed it last night and it seems to be better. Time will tell. It took about 2 hours to complete the update. Seems quite long and it used 4% of the battery

Mine updated this morning. Not sure what it was for. I have the H1+.

Waste of time to review the current model. You’ll know what changed, so what. That model is not or will not be available.

Has Garmin acknowledged the issue?
