Agree and disagree. Yeah, 90% of the things people get heated over are actually pointless, but there are also some very real, very bad things going down recently that will only get worse if we as the common people ignore them. Save your strength for what matters.

one must strike a middle ground. aware enough to prepare but not entirely submerged in recent events enough to drown.

@Jauilliphis

Yeah, but we really need to have a conversation about politics person 262626. They should honestly be in jail over the things they promote.

To be fair, that meme could easily be interpreted as blissful ignorance. Just because someone misses the news that war has broken out doesn’t mean he's not getting drafted😂

@Jessie_Helms

Willful ignorance can only be achieved through callous denial of reality and having enough privilege to be able to cut it off. However doom scrolling till you have a panic attack isn’t going to help you either.

@Nerobyrne

You have to find a balance, because not caring is also really helpful to people who want to make your life worse. But at the same time, don't destroy your mental health for fear of missing something.

My logic is: if something important is happening that will both affect YOU and YOU can do something about it, you’re gonna hear about it from word of mouth even if you’re not the most social.

“Just go outside, bro.” Is a nice sentiment, but not everyone has the privilege to ignore politics. This is especially true if you belong to any number of certain groups that the current powers in charge want to strip the rights from.

I firmly believe that our monkey brains were not meant for this level of connectivity and communication. Not saying I don't interact with it, but yeah

Why I disabled most of my phone’s News Notifications and only use Twitter to check for when Discotek is about to announce new retro anime and tokusatsu Blu-rays

@qryptid

The only time I ever see your posts is when you're saying something against talking about politics. Oh the irony.

@acoolcat.

One thing you always have to think about is that we've always had issues all across the world, just that the internet blows them out of proportion due the insane massive amount of people on it. While it may seem bad soley looking at what people on the internet say if anything we live in a decent era in history, could it be better yeah, but taking a moment to see what there is to appreciate outside of the internet can greatly help one understand that things are going to be ok

@Pipykins

Yooo this is hands down how I felt when I went out to my grandparents' farm out in WV this week. I didn't want to go back to my home state 😔

Whenever I decide to engage in doom scrolling and constantly updating myself on current events, I always ask myself: “Wait a second, this is a complete waste of time!”

I prefer to find a balance instead of living in ignorance.

Drake, are you sure you are Chaotic evil? You are chaotic neutral! All your evil acts are balanced by moments like that!

@Arlesmon

And sometimes those things they say are forgotten within a week and they focus on another one if it’s pretty stuff. We gotta value our time and that waisting it will make us miserable. Because the algoritm wants us to be isolated instead of connected
