Captured Metal

I spent some time with the new ///M5.

My honest take is this:

Is it large? Yes.

Is it heavy? Absolutely.

However...

It's incredibly quick, even with the added weight. 0-60 has been tested as quick as 3 seconds flat.

Did the F90 do it in 2.8 seconds?

Sure, but my honest thought is that BMW wanted to show an advancement in powertrain technology versus an advancement in speed, for the sake of emissions/efficiency.

Even though it's 5400 lbs, it handles like it's on rails, and you can't really feel the weight in corners. BMW did wonders with keeping this mammoth planted. The steering was light, but direct. I do wish the weight could be a bit heavier, but this is to be expected from almost any modern day car.

Build quality is still at an all-time high, as the materials were amazing throughout. Leather everywhere, and carbon fiber everywhere.

Only gripe I truly had with the car is that some seat adjustments were put in the infotainment system. Otherwise, very easy to get used to.

The design is polarizing, and I put it in the same realm as Call of Duty. Everytime one gets released, it's hated... but give it a few months and everyone still plays it and ends up liking it. Same thing here... I didn't like it at first, but the design has really grown on me. BMW's going an interesting route with their design language as of now, but it works in a weird way.

What do you think?

Side note... check out the difference in size from my E60 to this G90...
