You are a moral philosopher. A trolley is barreling uncontrollably down a set of tracks, but no one is there. Do you tie people to the tracks to keep your job?

If you do nothing, five people die. But, if you pull this lever, five different people die, but you also get this crisp five dollar bill!

I’d flip the switch repeatedly over and over so people’s moods will drastically swing uncontrollably and the world is in chaos

You’re offered $1,000,000, but every time you spend any of it, a duck follows you quacking for exactly 10 minutes.

You can understand everyone entirely, no confusion, no communication issues, no language barriers. But you'll always hear everyone's thoughts as a result and no one will have any privacy mentally or emotionally.

I say we do weekdays with that bliss switch and weekends with it off. It would make that 9-to-5 more bearable.

The trolley problem but with various controversial celebrities and politicians tied to the track

This concept was explored in an episode of Duckman, and Jason Alexander's character came to the conclusion that everyone can't be happy because some people are only happy when they have something to complain about. Basically, some things make some people happy and some people unhappy. But nothing will make everyone happy. Even a button that makes everyone happy, some people will only be happy if they are able to complain about the button. Being unhappy is a driving motivator and a great inspiration sometimes. "Being happy all the time sounds miserable," some will say. Being a human is complex and unfair. Damn you, Daniel, for making existential topics.

The next crime you do is now physically impossible for the rest of the human race. Meaning, if you murder someone, murder is now impossible. What’s the worst crime you’d be willing to commit in this case?

An eternal dilemma of bliss and suffering, Vsauce has a short about it
7 months ago | 3
The "bliss and suffering" dilemma, credits to Vsauce: there are two realms, one in which everyone lives in eternal bliss, and another in which everyone lives in eternal suffering. In the realm you choose infinitely many immortal people will be placed there, and every day someone will be teleported to the other realm, and will live there forever. If you choose the bliss realm, there will always be infinitely many people living in bliss and only finitely many living in suffering, but everyone knows their days in bliss are counted, and eventually will be sent to live in suffering forever. If, on the other hand, you choose suffering, then there will always be infinitely many people living in suffering, however everyone knows they'll eventually be sent to bliss. Which is the better one?

Hey folks!
I'm sourcing some ethical dilemmas for a new show and need your help. For example - The Happiness Switch: You have a switch that can make everyone in the world permanently happy, but it will eliminate all forms of creativity and individuality. Do you flip the switch, creating a world of blissful conformity?
Let me know if you have any similarly interesting questions in the comments below! Thank ya!
