@DanaDoesStuff

"hypo" meaning "low," "tension" meaning "awkward feelings between you and your spouse"

@9999_IQ_Carrot

Severe meaning really bad, burn meaning you just got roasted by your classmates for not knowing that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.

I always love these because it makes me feel like I actually learned things in nursing school despite it never coming up as a psych nurse.

Since I have dysautonomia, of you were asking me specifically that question? Literally anything. My blood pressure goes low if I stand up, if I eat too many carbs, too big a meal, not enough water (3+L/day) or salt, exercising can cause a drop unexpectedly hours later, sleeping too long, not changing my position often enough, temp above 75F, the list goes on and on. I hate it.

Severe trauma of any kind can cause hypotension and is red flag that the person is going into shock

I didn't know burns caused fluid loss, thank you for educating us :-)

Thank you for putting up questions that require a little bit of understanding instead of simple memorization. So many of these other online quizzes don't make you think.

One of the main side effects of prednisone is hypotension for an inverse of blood vessel constriction. Water retention and inflammation constrict blood vessels and can increase blood pressure just like stimulants, and steroids can do the opposite. Severe burns tend to cause hypovolemia.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. If a burn “isn’t that painful “ it’s bad!

I got it right. I worked in healthcare and witnessed a horrific burning event - while it happened. Patient died.

I was robbed. Fluid overload can lead to hypotension, or low blood pressure, as the excess fluid may cause the heart to work inefficiently, potentially resulting in inadequate blood flow to organs

@CodOpsZombies

Depends where the fluid overload goes. Severe pulmonary oedema causes hypotension

@ShotgunLlama

Correct me if I'm wrong, but ingesting too much water can lead to hyponatremia, which can lead to hypotension, can it not?

@asdfghjklsati

Hypotension is low blood pressure. Skin helps keep fluids in the body. A severe burn injury compromises skin, and leads to massive fluid loss, resulting in low blood pressure due to the loss.

Immediately in my head I heard “Hypo meaning low” in Dr Bernard’s voice 😂
