Ok, so I played the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Open Network Test in my most recent video. Now, to give my thoughts. Big question: Is it peak? The answer is... no. It's flipping awesome, of course, but like top-tier peak? Not really. There is Grand Prix, Race Park, and Time Attack as the modes, which really isn't much, and the controls are a little awkward. Sometimes, the drifting feels too sharp, and sometimes, it feels too stiff. The recovery time from getting hit by an item is MIND-BENDING SLOW. It feels like centuries before you can move again. Also, people complain about the intermission races in Mario Kart World boring because it's a straight line. Well, you might want to hold your tongue because Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has tracks that are incredibly linear and straight for 3 lap races. There are maybe like 1 or 2 shortcuts, but they are so shallow and slow compared to taking the normal route. The tracks are way too linear and feel like intermission races in the form of 3 lap tracks. Now on to the fantastic stuff. The roster was great! Zazz is a good character to play, and I love the interaction rival dialogue. It really adds some spice to the game. The Extreme Gear is really nice to have in this game since it offers different stats, and I, of course, love using them while playing Jet. The soundtrack is also fire, but when has a Sonic game besides Sonic Shuffle had a bad soundtrack? Apotos is definitely my favorite track since Sonic Unleashed had the best daytime stages. I also love Colorful Mall. Hopefully, we get to see it in a mainline Sonic game since it kind of reminds me of Coconut Mall. The sense of speed you feel from this game makes you feel so hype since it is shown through the option to play at Sonic Speed. The cross-platform matchmaking is also a huge W since you can play without having to be tied to one console. Overall, this game is fun and way past cool, but I feel like the biggest saving grace for it is the crossover characters. I definitely recommend this game, and my rating for it so far is an 8/10. πŸ”΅πŸ¦” + πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž = πŸŸ‘πŸ¦”
