The way these sick nutters describe dogs, you'd think they were talking about their actual children! This one refers to their dog as “my six year old” and “my baby.” You simply can't make this stuff up! And normally I might even white out the dog's name from the post (b/c I hate how they try to humanize them), but is that not easily top 10 most cringe dog or pet names you've ever heard? This nutter can't afford the dog's medical care or whatever and is stressing it as though they were trying to provide for their literal child.
What obligation is there to own a dog or try to meet its needs? There are absolutely none. You don't even have to have a child if you don't want to (some people can't), so you definitely don't ever need to get a dog or take care of one. It's a foreign thing from a foreign species. It doesn't care about you. It cannot understand you. It can't relate to you. It doesn't love you. It's not a person. It never will be.
You owe dogs nothing. You owe yourself more dignity than to be a dog owner, and you owe society, in the sense that by having a dog you're at least polluting and contaminating local environments and probably creating a great number of inconveniences for others, just by having this thing. You don't owe the pet industry anything either (you're funding them!), and you have nothing to prove to anyone. Having a dog you may or may not be able to care for isn't the flex or virtue signal you think it is.
