Crew members of the Global Sumud Flotilla have shared with MEE their emotional reactions to videos sent from Gaza and the West Bank.

Palestinians expressed their thanks and solidarity to the activists on board, who said the gratitude they received was deeply moving, but that their efforts were "the bare minimum" in the face of Israel’s ongoing siege. Brazilian socio-environmentalist and activist Thiago Ávila said it was the rest of the world that was in "eternal debt" to the Palestinians, as they have shown the way to fight for their rights with integrity and truth.

The Global Sumud Flotilla represents the largest coordinated effort yet to challenge Israel’s siege and stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza, and is expected to reach the Strip by mid-September providing there is no interference from Israeli forces.
