Dan Go

I was having a conversation with one of the best functional medicine doctors in America.

He was a wise man in his 60s. I asked him what the best form of medicine and his answer shocked me:

He told me that the best form of medicine is prevention.

This comes from our behavior.

Our health is largely a reflection of our lifestyle.

You fix that, and you fix a lot of problems in life.

I don't know about you, but that's great advice.

✍🏼 Agree or disagree?

The nutritionist will. Doctors are for post care. Nutritionist are for preventative healthcare

100% agree. Alcohol, smoking, shitty diet, lack of exercise, poor sleep to name a few will absolutely increase your mortality rate. I like to think of each bad choice as a multiplier for cancer. You drink alcohol, now you are 2x more likely to get cancer and sooner. You smoke, also 2x more likely. You do both and now you’re 3x likely to get it. You get the jist of where this is going. Some people could have lived a long ailment free life, but due to terrible lifestyle decisions ended up turning their once perfectly healthy bodies into a toxic cesspool causing them to die much sooner and more unpleasantly than they should have. Quite sad really.

I'm a doctor in the mental health field We call these things "positive steps to well- being". I'm not a medical model therapist, nor do I prescribe pills, but unfortunately, a lot of complexity contributes to people integrating these positive steps into their lives.

This has been the recommendation for healthy living for pretty much forever. You don't need a doctor to tell you this.

I thought I was invincible until I hit 55 and then my body started falling apart. That was a reality check. Since then I've taken a 180 on health. I'm now 60 yrs old and in spot 13 on the Rejuvenation Olympics.

Yep that will basically help and change most people’s lives. Walk/Jog 10-20,000 steps a day, eat protein and keep carbs to a minimum, do push-ups and pull-ups, jumping jacks/jump rope, drink plenty of water and cut down or stop drinking alcohol and soft drinks. Will cure most problems.

I’m an ER doctor. I completely agree. But the patients that I see in the ER every shift will never do this. The people who live this way, they’re not in the ER.
