Have you ever purchased a "Brand New" Car?

@MillardFeelmore

I'm not dumb. I'll let someone pay $80k for the truck I want, be patient and then buy it for $20k after they've drove it for four years. Then I keep them for 20 years.

@themoon69420

Nope. I've never owned a vehicle from the 21st century either, and I plan to try to keep it that way.

You used to buy a house for 80.000, now you’re lucky to buy a car πŸš—, Gart

Used cars today are too expensive

I've never earned enough to afford a new car, I bought a 2006 Nissan Note in 2017 for Β£3400 and I could only afford that because I sold the house and moved to somewhere cheaper.

When I was young I purchased new cars, and I purchased them frequently. As I grew older, i purchased used cars and I purchased them out of necessity, not to keep up with the Jones's

Most people who claim they have "purchased" a new car have actually just leased it. That's like saying you bought a new house because you rented it. Car companies have managed to trick people very successfully into thinking they actually own the car they pay monthly for πŸ˜‚

My mom did it had a 1/2 mile on it when she drove it off the dealership lot. It was a 1997 Dodge Neon

1992 Nissan Sentra, 2001 BMW 3251, 2006 Honda Fit, 2012 Hyundai Veloster, 2016 Hyundai Elantra, 2020 Hyundai Kona, and a 2023 Ford Maverick. So, in the last 33 years, 7 brand new vehicles.

Always. I had a few "not so brand new" cars, but these were company cars or, literally, throwaways. Likewise, I passed my own cars within the (extended) family at no charge. Curiously, one of these - that I gave away in 2001 - is still running. But my driving story is gradually ending, current 17-year-old VW will probably be the last one.

I could never afford to buy a new car. Had an old house that needed high maintenance, so I bought used cars...and a truck for work...and had them repaired along the way as needed. I also maintained them and kept them a long time. Still have my '94 Escort, but bought a used Flex for good traction in winter.

Yes. Bought a Toyota Corolla and drove it for years. Then a Honda HRV (small SUV) and am still driving it.

A Citroen DS3 in 2014, a Mokka from Opel/Vauxhall in 2022, and now I’m currently waiting for my new Vauxhall Frontera to be delivered πŸŽ‰

My first new car was one of the worst, a Chrysler Avenger it creaked and rattled and the boot filled with water.

In 2020, I bought a Dacia (Renault) Duster 1.6 16V in bare basic trim, new as a parallel import for €11,000! I installed a DAB radio, decent speakers, and wider wheels also have tint film applied to the rear windows. A wonderful car.
