I can only answer for my personal experience. I went WFPB May 1st this year. As of yesterday I’ve lost 44 pounds. My blood glucose level has been steady since the first week of June. I have more energy. And I eat way more carbs than I used to. Half a plate of veggies and half a plate of starch. I’ll never go back to eating unhealthy again.

That is really frustrating. You can help some of the people some of the time, but never all of the people all of the time. You can lead them to water, but cannot make them drink. It's especially sad when you see others become very ill or pass away from poor food choices. Keep up the good fight. Lead by example. Plant tiny seeds as you make your way through the chaos.

Good for you for letting it out here. If I go at it at all, I’m more inclined to just point out that all carbs aren’t created the same.

Interestingly, I had my annual “old lady checkup” (my title) w/ PCP. He made a single comment that encouraged me . . . that I’m of the age (72, going on 67– I’ve started subtracting birthdays since I turned 70) that my healthy living is really showing success. So, don’t worry kids. It’s your amazing body and, consequently your important choices.

The people who think they are “experts”online are unbelievable. They also need to go to protein school. I’ve also tried to post that too much protein can lead to all kinds of physical problems, especially kidney failure. No one is interested in the scientific research papers.

It's sad how people do such important things like deciding a whole diet based on just vibes

I have lost 65 lbs since going oil free WFPB six months ago, and feel so much better with every passing day. My acid reflux vanished overnight, and I gave away my CPAP machine and equipment to a friend who needed one.

Choosing to be Vegan (much more than a diet), or to eat "plant-based" , I view as something akin to stopping smoking; you have to want to do it.

Plant Based Bistro
So I was doomscrolling on Facebook just now and saw some ad for one of those "check your body type to know what to eat" ads, and it told the woman in the ad to eat more carbs to lose weight. The comment section exploded as you might expect. One person said, "Be careful eating carbs because they turn to sugar and too much sugar in your system will lead to diabetes.". Obviously this is inaccurate. I typed out a full response including links to studies and other useful information, and then read the rest of the comments. Tons of people claiming carbs are the reason people are sick, gain weight, etc, and only animal products will save us all.
I deleted my comment.
Why? It would do nothing but fan flames of negativity. Those who comment that way won't have their minds changed by me or anyone else. Yes, I know we should all try to help those who need it, and educate those who aren't, but some people just will never see the truth. They would rather be blind to it and further their own bad decisions.
One guy who was particularly outspoken about consuming only animal products claimed he was in better shape than all the others who told him he was wrong. He looked to be about 100 lbs overweight in his photos. He also claimed that vegans who claim to be healthy are malnourished and weak and that's why they appear so thin.
This world is seriously messed up about health. It's sad and it's frustrating, but I am not a doctor, and I don't need to get into online nutrition intelligence wars with unarmed opponents.
Just a decade ago, I never would think of going plant based, and arguing with me would have been futile. Everyone finds their own way, and that's the only way to make anyone change.
