@tridoc99

I’ve never named an inanimate object of any kind. Maybe I would if I could train my guitar to come when I called it.

I usually name my instruments, or they already have names. As a strange example, my haunted bowl-back mandolin (handmade in Texas around 1900 and is uh... super haunted) introduced herself as Agatha. The interwar Regal tenor guitar is known as the Count, and my Ibanez 1976 Dove is known by its epithet: "The Axe of War and Peace". The Washburn A-Style mandolin is kept in Hangman's Tuning, so it goes by Gallows and/or Gallis, depending on mood.

I have deep affection for my '92 Guild Pilot bass that I bought because Krist played one and I loved how it sounded. I wanted to have a more meaty sound that I could get out of my Rickenbackers, which I was playing at the time. It was the grunge years, baby!

Generally I never name anything that's not living but a couple have earned nicknames over time.

My les pauls and my telecaster greet me by name every morning. My sg looks at me and says 'what the f-ck are looking at ?'

It’s a superstition thing for me. Typically in the past, didn’t name a new guitar and it ends up being a problematic instrument. Now all guitars i own have names proudly displayed on the headstock edge along with the tuning and everyone is happy; minimal issues. Sounds super stupid, I know, but it is a superstition I can live with.

Maybe I would name one if I ever record an album, but I’d probably play more than one guitar on it.

Even though I've named every car and computer that I've ever owned, for some reason, I've never named an instrument. I think it may be because I feel like musical instruments (esp. the stringed ones) are more a part of me than any car or computer could be. So, they don't need separate names.
