I can’t pick one. Because both have their highs and lows. Mania is more polished and technically more fun to play but is held back by lack of original levels. Superstars has original levels and technically a more interesting story even if it’s flawed, but suffers from hit or miss level design and music. So I’m just gonna say… yes. Edit: Hey, this is me from the future and I actually just got done playing Sonic Mania and Superstars when doing my countdown to Sonic X Shadow Generations, and it gave me an opportunity to check both games out and form a more proper opinion now that I’ve had the chance to actually see what both games have to offer. So I still like both games, however, after giving it some thought, I think I’m kind of leaning more towards Superstars now. Yes, Mania does do a lot of things better like level design and music, but I think Superstars has a much more refreshing feeling than Mania. Mania leans a little too heavily on what we’ve already seen before and while it executed it pretty well, there’s still that nagging feeling that it could’ve been so much more if it had been completely original. Superstars may not have the best level design and may have a ridiculous difficulty spike, but when I put that game up with 1, CD, 2, and 3&K, that game kind of feels more like the successor to those games that Sonic 4 should’ve been where as Mania is kind of more of a greatest hits game. Superstars actually feels like I’m playing a brand new adventure of Sonic because of how it features completely new levels on a new island and features a new character in Trip with a story centered around her. Something that the classic games before have done. Superstars isn’t perfect by any means, but I still get more excited to play that one over Mania because it at least does more to stand out from the previous games and give us something more refreshing rather than revive the past. Again, I like both games, it’s just Superstars is just a little bit more appealing to me.

Listen, I’m one of the few people that actually really liked Sonic Superstars and didn’t mind how hard the final boss fights were, but Mania is so much better of a Sonic game that it isn’t even fair

Superstars is great classic sonic action and they brought back Fang which makes me over the moon but Mania was something special

I don't mean that sonic superstars is bad. But the thing is that sonic mania is a classic 2d style game and it brings us the memories of original sonic games

Although Superstars has more of a challenge, it doesn’t feel as hard when you beat it the first time, until you get Trip’s part. But that’s another story

Of course it's Sonic Mania, but don't let Sonic Superstars be so unfair. The game is incredible, it's just the bosses and part of the soundtrack that leave something to be desired.

I played mania a lot but I haven't played superstars much yet. Only played zone 1 act 1 in the time trial mode so far because of the lack of free time currently. I really liked what I played so far from it though and plan to play the whole game trough 2 player co op this June.

I choose Superstar because it's at least unique, unlike Mania, which only takes, giving almost nothing in return

Superstars was a great game that definitely gets overhated. Idc what slack I get for saying that, bring it on lol. Mania is a fantastic game no one is saying it's bad and no one should it's very very good, but Superstars is just as good. It has great level design, all new original level themes, and a banger soundtrack. I swear the majority of people who crap all over it and praise Mania to the high heavens do because Mania was made by fans. Superstars is definitely the sequel to Mania I was looking forward to.

The former is 1/3rd of a new game at best and the latter is a full new game.
