An older lady with dementia I looked after would always say, "rum" if I asked her if she wanted a drink, and since I was encouraging her to drink more water at the time this happened a LOT, but I still laughed every time and she always seemed pleased with her joke which put her in a good mood and that made me happy too so hey it's a win win!

I’m a nutrition assistant (a term for a glorified patient food order taker.. “room service”) for a 400+bed local hospital… I LOVE this!!! If I had a nickel for every time I get a request for a beer, glass of wine, Bloody Mary, the ever popular margarita, or a filet mignon, I’d retire early! Always my fave patients!!

😂 Never had that before. But I had a patient who was a closet alcoholic. Not admitting it to himself or anyone...so no warning happend. He went nuts the first night, out of the blue at 2am and through furniture off the balcony (at the end of the hallway) and out of the window. At least he tried, and damaged the window while doing so. They had him fixated, arms...legs, hips and chest and head. He peed on the night shift and the security guard who came for help. He wasn't allowed to move for almost 24hours, until he had the second beer with a couple hours in-between and was finally responding when spoken to again. That was when I realised what alcohol addiction actually does to the body. He had zero memory of anything. Only asked why he had a catheter on him and the restrains.

I volunteered in a nursing home with my church women's group for Mother's Day. We brought cake, goodies, and cards for all the moms. This one woman with dementia tried to get me to bust her out, I did not know how to react.. We had a laugh about it later.. I honestly loved that woman💕

I work in resident care, and one of my residents always replies "gin and tonic" when I ask if there's anything else I can get for them. Love him to bits, honestly.

I always respond with “if I could make that happen, I would be very popular around here.”

God knows that I tried to convince the CEO of the HCA facility where I worked in San Antonio to install a coffee bar on the way into the hospital and a margarita machine on the way out in the quarter mile hallway that employees had to traverse before and after our 12 hour shifts. He wouldn't do it.

A nurse asked me if I needed something and I told her, a cream donut! Knowing there was none in the hospital, and not expecting anything! Well, she appeared by my bed 1h later with a box of nutella mrPuff that she got freshly hot during her lunch break! I cried of joy! So thankful and grateful!

Just a Pepsi and a puppy for me, please! Booze makes my brain go bye-bye, and that's just not the vibe today.

My grandpa had two comebacks,"two blonds, a brunette, and a red head," or "any I can get and the easy ones twice!" Of course my grandma was ALWAYS right there laughing too.

On the psych ward we had a script "Is there anything I could do or say that would get you to comply with our direction?" (Code for...get ready) We got many....unique, and often physically impossible, replies to that question But...the lawyers liked it when we asked

It was (at least) the SECOND time for multiple, high strength tornadoes! Fargo, ND was hit in 1957 by a series of FIVE tornadoes in 3.5 HOURS that ALSO followed the exact same path! They retoactively classified it as an F5 in the 70s and, if I remember correctly, it was the data from this supercell event that Mr. Fujita used to help create his scale! The path of destruction was 500 yards across at its widest point, had a 50 mile long track from start to finish, and they were finding debris as far as 50 miles east of it's end point!

My grandmother spent the end of her life in a skilled nursing care memory unit. They asked her what she wanted to have with her meal. She asked for scotch.

Fair honestly, I mean if I’m going to be in the hospital, the least I can get is some fun 😂
