I have been doing facial exercises, as well as using a resistance band pulled down, from the top of my head, while doing chin tucks — that has helped reduce both nasal labial folds, as well as the beginning signs of jowls. Massage and gua sha have been really helpful, when my muscles get tight, after the exercises.

Hello, I am very happy that I massaged my face with your videos, but the problem is that the skin on my face has become very loose and the fat under the skin and collagen have disappeared. Please guide me which video to run I am 56 years old بازخورد

Aysel - Massage Therapist (LMT)
There are many reasons for the appearance of nasolabial folds. Let's talk about the main causes today.
⠀
✅ Puffy face. Of course, puffiness itself is not the cause of nasolabial folds. However, if you already have nasolabial folds on your face, then excess fluid will accumulate in this area. And over time, barely noticeable nasolabial folds will turn into massive unsightly overhanging rolls.
✅ Tension of the masticatory muscles. The entire soft tissue mass of the face shifts to the center, forming rollers. Once you rid the masseter muscles of tension, the nasolabial fold will immediately become smaller.
⠀
✅ Spasm of the zygomatic muscles. When they contract, they produce a smile. But if they are not relaxed, over time they spasm and become shorter. Add puffiness, and you get unsightly creases.
⠀
✅ Hypertonicity of the depressor muscles. We're talking about the triangular muscle, the muscle that lowers the corner of the mouth. They shorten, too, and you get dull nasolabial folds on your face.
⠀
✅ Shortening of the muscle base of the cheek. A "frozen smile" effect where the lips are in a constant pre-tension.
⠀
✅ Posture and neck static disorders. Tension from the back muscles is transferred to the forehead, mid-face and even the mouth area.
⠀
✅ Orthodontic problems. As we age, the upper jaw shifts, as if pushed inward. Muscular support disappears - rolls form.
In many cases, nasolabial folds can be reduced, corrected and prevented. However, in addition to massage, you should always keep an eye on your posture and the condition of your teeth
