Did anyone else have their minds BLOWN when they learned Brown was just Dark Orange or was I a dumb kid

@JohnSmith-of2gu

I distinctively remember playing Spore and wondering why I couldn't find a "brown" button and could only 'approximate' it by turning up the darkness on orange. That's when it hit me.

The connection between brown and orange is way less intuitive than the one between red and pink - even though they're pretty similar. I always saw pink as very red-like but didn't see brown as orange-like. I feel like a lot of the browns we tend to interact with in nature are very desaturated, which might contribute to why it comes as a shock.

@lipamanka

I mean it really depends on the shade of brown. some browns skew more red or yellow. but yes it did blow my mind that brown is "warm dark color"

My friend told me that as a kid and my response was something like "no it's not idiot"

@ZombiesWerePeopleToo

It blew my mind and my wife still refuses to believe me when I tell her it, it’s really interesting how the human mind understands colour

@jeremias-serus

I wasn’t but that’s cuz I liked color theory as a young kid. Most kids around me were shocked tho ye

That is exactly how I felt as a kid

@artugert

I only learned that a few years ago from a YouTube video. It was interesting, but what I was more surprised by was the fact that I learned this in my late 30s and not earlier.

@50gens

If I was properly thought colors when I was a baby, then maybe my brain would see brown as orange+black, green as yellow+blue, and blue as green+violet.
