I designed a 3D printable mount that lets me put a tablet running android auto (fully unreliant on a phone btw) into my truck from 1969. Already has a good headunit from when my parents daily drove this thing, and it still works so why replace it?
The mount slots into the hole where the original radio was (I didn't remove it, original original original original owners did) so no glue, tape, cutting, nothing. It does need some double sided tape/Velcro where the back of the tablet and the mount meet, but that's literally it.
At some point I might get a CarPlay adapter, but for now, all of my music is on an SD card and plays no connection to anything required.
Planning on using a type C to USB dongle with charge passthrough, using a USB audio adapter to go to the headunit, and power coming from the cigarette lighter, so when I take it in/out, its one cable for everything.
