Gabriel had completely lost the plot by Season 5. Which makes his "redemption" make no sense. But he definitely was at his most entertaining during this Season 5 Side note: Gabriel's "redemption" feels like it was written for Season 1 or 2 Gabriel, not his Season 5 counterpart. Honestly, I think Gabriel's motivations should've, slowly throughout the show, changed from resurrecting Emily to wanting to defeat Ladybug and Chat Noir. Would make his actions in later seasons make a little more sense as his obsession with Ladybug and Chat Noir has blinded him from his original sympathetic goal. Perhaps Natalie makes Gabriel realise this but Gabriel just doubles down on his villainy as he knows he's too far gone and doesn't deserve redemption. He basically wants to go out with a big bang. My rambling probably doesn't even make any sense
