Imagine the embrace these men shared, the laughs and smiles...just to go back to fighting till the end. Heavy stuff right there.

One of the few moments of light in a period of darkness.

The sad thing is, the Generals from all the countries were very angry about it. So much so, they forbade it from happening again. The troops NEEDED the hope it brought. The Powers couldn't allow it.

If the same people who caused the wars, had also to fight in them, we would have peace on earth by tomorrow.

โ€œPoliticians hide themselves away they only started the war Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role to the poorโ€ - Ozzy Osbourne

And today we're all brothers Tonight we're all friends A moment of peace in a war that never ends Today we're all brothers We drink and unite Now Christmas has arrived and the snow turns the ground white Hear carols from the trenches We sing O Holy Night Our guns laid to rest among snowflakes A Christmas in the trenches A Christmas on the front far from home

Thus proving that without politicians and political officers (top brass), wars would be massively reduced.

I had visited that very location, while on shore leave, from my ship, during my only time as a Fleet Sailor, in the Navy. There was a historian giving us accounts, taken from the diaries of soldiers, from both sides, after the war. Reminds me, us, that it, warfare, is mankinds ULTIMATE, STUPID FOLLY!!!!
