I know I'm late to the party but I was recently informed on the passing of Ross Rowland. A very famous name in steam preservation. I pass on my condolences to his family (who I had the pleasure of meeting some of em) as well as the many people he was close with. I first met him in person upon my days working at the New Hope Railroad, quite an interesting fellow and one hell of an engineer on NHRR's lone steam locomotive 40. By chance I believe it was one of his great granddaughters (couldn't remember exactly) came to visit and I had the honor of taking their photo with Ross in 40's cab. I wish I remembered what I did with that photo as this was back in 2021/2022. I know many will be sad to think he wont be around to see his prized 614 operational but spiritually I know he'll be there. May all your signals on your ride up above be green... Green for glory. 1940 - 2025

Without Ross, C&O 614 would be nothing, doing so much for it and others. He’ll never be forgotten… 😞

I cannot tell you how shocked I was when I saw that article saying that he died. It now makes sense as to why he sold C&O 614. He likely realized that death was fast approaching him and he wanted to find someone who can take good care of 614. I think he would be happy to know that his engine is in very good hands.
