Edward Mote was working in his workshop one morning in 1834 when the words of the chorus ran through his mind: “On Christ the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand”. By the end of that day, Mote had written four verses that would become the beloved hymn we all know today as “The Solid Rock”.
