My latest video on social media safety was taken down due to a wrongful copyright claim. The clip I used in my video was clearly protected under fair use. When this person reached out to me, I even removed their clip from my video as a courtesy MANY HOURS before the takedown was issued.
This same person also filed a privacy complaint on my video, which is intended for serious cases where someone exposes your sensitive information like home addresses or legal names. That didn’t happen here. The clip was referenced from a publicly-posted, viral video that already had millions of views.
Filing a privacy complaint and holding a copyright claim over a clip that’s no longer in the video itself is an abuse of the system. I’ve done everything possible to communicate with this person and handle this matter respectfully and fairly. Unfortunately, the person involved has chosen to communicate with me in a way that has been incredibly inappropriate. They've sent me repeated, lengthy messages hurling personal accusations at me, mischaracterizing my intentions, and shifting demands that contradict their own stated concerns.
As a SMALL CREATOR, I pour 20+ hours of time and care into each video to make something I genuinely believe in. I make content because it matters to me. It's not about views. It's not about money. And it's certainly not about exploiting anyone.
This situation has been incredibly stressful and feels like a nightmare. I’ve submitted a counter notification, and the video should be reinstated in the near future. This video about living alone diaries shared a very important message and sparked an important discussion about a trend that actively puts people’s safety at risk online. Thank you so much for your support while I wait this out!
