I’ve worked with many editors and have edited for many clients, and a majority of them love After Effects. Some of them love it so much that they just edit videos straight out of it and rarely use anything else. I personally prefer to just use Premiere and load up After Effects as I see fit, but it really does appear to provide any effect you want if you can wrap your head around it. I know some animators (like those who may animate for Death Battle or One Minute Melee) have animated some of their project sequences in it too. The Adobe Creative Suite may have its complaints (yes, we all despise the subscription model and we hate how often their programs crash), but ultimately, these programs will get the job done. I’m constantly looking up tutorials to learn new tricks, especially when it comes to After Effects! If you’ve already been using programs like Flash, Auditon, Premiere, you may as well pop it open every once in a while and learn something new.

While I'm not an animator myself, I've heard less-than-stellar things about AAE. Some research might be in order for this one.

I've used After Effects, and even doing simple things are pretty complicated for a sprite animation. Generally, if you're just wanting to do some simple post video editing, Adobe Premiere Pro is enough or just stick with DaVinci Resolve. After Effects for sprite animation is usually for those crazy people who want to do lighting, shadows and all that other fancy graphical stuff.

I messed with Resolve a while back. Followed a lot of tutorials. Honestly, when I learned enough, I found that Resolve is pretty much just Premiere and After Effects in one program. It’s definitely not as intuitive, but when you get to learn it better, you’ll find that there’s quite a bit you can do in Resolve, especially with the Fusion editor that comes with it. You’ll have to look at some tutorials and mess around, but I’ve made much cooler things in resolve than after effects. Don’t buy adobe. They suck.

I've used after affects a ton. Its a very powerful tool and can help with many special effects. The only downside is the subscription based model they have, but i really like it

I don’t use either but from friends I’ve learned that Adobe just has a lot of unnecessary fees sometimes for things you can get elsewhere.

I've struggled a lot with thinking there's better ways to go about things and it has made me lose insane amounts of time, none of which needed to be wasted that way. I would recommend you to do what you already know does work, instead of worrying about what you may not know, and sure, maybe things would be easier with the knowledge you're missing out on, but that's really just how life rolls, we ain't supposed to always know everything from the get go, so might as well keep moving forwards as is. Edit: This is not to say you shouldn't do research, please do, learning is a necessary thing to grow, and growth is another pillar of life, just don't let yourself be stopped by doubts, and if you really have to, stop once you're actually learning the new step (or when something more urgent pops up, y'know).

You can import .swf into after effects, is really good And it could help you with way more dynamic and complicated scenes, like particles, 3D camera, etc. Stuff that are impossible or mega difficult to do in Flash

Resolve can be a little confusing sometimes but i ALWAYS just look up how to do something if i forget or need to learn something .w.

I found out many important features for Sprite Animation don't exist in Davinci Resolve i always prefer Adobe Animate or After Effects or Macromedia Flash or Stick Node. Davinci is more for Videos if it comes to Pictures like Sprites it can be difficult to have the Freedom to use that Flash is better because its exactly the best for the Sprite Animations but i think there are many programs and options everyone should find his best way

I know someone who was an expert in After Effects, but switched to DaVinci Resolve because it's multiple tools in one.

Hey not able to give much input but I'm glad to see that your doing okay. I hope everything's going alright and things will work out with your job

I'm not a professional animator or editor but I know for a fact that DaVinci Resolve Studio has everything you can ever imagine! And yes, if you already have DaVinci Resolve Studio (which is the paid version) you don't need after effects. End of the day you're the Animator so it's totally up to you whichever software you like the most I JUST WANT A NEW EPISODE!

Yes, advanced sprite animators use AE to enhance visuals, map usage, and effects.

I’ve always used it for editing my projects. Its also good for motion graphics and rigged characters, but I really dont use it too often

After Effects is really good for sprite animations. I've used to use it in the past a lot but someone who is currently using it for sprite animation to this day is TheRedHeadHenry. He's made a bunch of 3D environments using it and I think still has his beginner tutorials up.

Not sure how many animators pay attention to my community posts. But I'm wondering if anyone uses or recommends Adobe After Effects?
I'm still using some of the old tools I've had since I started the reboot almost a decade ago while simultaneously trying to wrap my head around DaVinci Resolve's less than intuitive interface.
So are there any benefits to the program or is Flash and Resolve all I need?
