Travis the Dragon

Decided to start drawing again. Yeah, all of my drawings, going forward, will be traditional sketches, at least for a while. Hope you don’t mind.

I won’t lie, I miss making digital art, mostly because drawing traditionally is a pain in my balls, but I guess this is better than nothing.

Their hair looks so stylish and expressive just like their faces. Even in a traditional black and white, your art style is very pleasing to look at!

I PREFER traditional art - has more character in my opinion - the important thing is that you’re having fun!

Cute, still looks great! Is there a reason you’re doing traditional? Like, is it art block, or something else?

Can we swap art motivations and preferences? I’ve always wanted to get into digital art, but every time I put together the funds to hop onto it, I back out and buy something else (usually a replica anime sword) because I get intimidated by the learning curve and I’ve never been good at handling buyers’ remorse even on small things (Never buy a new game’s past gen version. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is actual torture on an Xbox 360). So I just keep doing what I already do with a 0.7mm mechanical pencil and artist alcohol markers from Walmart (at least I’ve found a way to do it cheap?). But it’s so depressing every time I look at an OC art I’ve made on paper and loath the thought of filling in the background and thinking it would be so much easier to make a simple, flat two tone background with some small line work and the paint bucket tool… It’s so irritating to finish a piece on paper, notice a mistake that is unfixable, and hope no one notices or redraw it because it’s something people will notice and it’s for a D&D character you’re gonna be playing that afternoon. Meanwhile digital tools can make fixing anything, even something as otherwise catastrophic like an anatomy or proportion error, relatively easy. But hey, your work is still great! It’s usually a bit easy to tell if an artist is more at home digitally or traditionally when you can see examples they’ve done in both. But, at least in terms of sketches, I can’t see much to even nitpick! And besides, working and learning in mediums and styles you don’t like but still want to improve and/or explore is textbook artistic integrity! Respect!
