What did you all think of St Anthony the Great's battle with demons in the tombs for two nights? As with all hagiographies, there's a lot of debate on whether these stories are Truth or Lore...

Most scholars consider Anthony the Great to be a real historical figure due to near-contemporary texts such as Athanasius’s "Life of Anthony", corroborating references from other fourth-century writers (such as Jerome, Epiphanius, Socrates Scholasticus, Sozomen), early Coptic letters thought to have been written by Anthony, and the archaeological footprint of the desert monasteries that quickly formed around his cave.

So Anthony himself was likely real. But a for the many fantastical stories surrounding him, I find them action-packed and absolutely intriguing, but they always make me wonder...
