I wanted to take a minute to apologize and clear something up. In the original title and thumbnail of my video for National Sushi Day, I used the word “sushi” when I was actually eating kimbap, and I’ve now learned those are two very different dishes with their own special cultural roots. I totally understand why that was frustrating or hurtful to some people, and I’m really sorry.
Truthfully, I posted this on National Sushi Day, and I thought it was close enough, but I know now that wasn’t the right call. I wasn’t trying to lump anything together or be careless about something that means so much to people. I just didn’t know, and once I saw the comments explaining the difference, I updated everything right away.
I’ve spent some time reading and thinking before responding because I really didn’t want to say the wrong thing again. The last thing I ever want is to offend anyone or contribute to something as harmful as cultural erasure. That’s not who I am, and I’m truly sorry I got this wrong.
Thank you to everyone who called it out with care ♥️ I’m listening and learning 🫶 I’ll be more mindful moving forward and keep doing my best to be respectful of every culture I share on this channel. 🙏
